BBAXN held its first Awards night on Wednesday 31st May 2006 at Harry’s Bar-Boat Quay. Everyone enjoyed the free buffet which were compliments from Harry’s Bar. This whole event was hosted by the Sports Operation and Development Executives, Shima and newcomer Lorraine: -

The evening started off with BBAXN director, Lee Taylor, giving a speech on how BBAXN has progressed and expanded from 2005. In 2006, 6 new adult teams joined BBAXN family while 8 new junior teams were recruited as well.

BBAXN prepared a slideshow on last season’s league for audience to reminisce on the good games they had. Next up, in our 1NiteStand Comedy Caption Contest, 2 lucky winners-Ken Ng from Matador and Jason Ho from Spartans each won five 1NiteStand tickets for submitting their creative comedy captions. Not only are our basketball players brawny, they have a great sense of humor too. The most anticipated moment was the prizing-giving ceremony. After a season of hard work, trophies and medals are a form of recognition to them. A general overview of the awards given out:

• Men’s Midweek League
• Men’s Saturday League
• Women’s League
• Top Point Scorer for Men’s Midweek League and Men’s Saturday League
• Fair Play Award for Men’s Midweek League, Men’s Saturday League and Women’s League

The event ended with a Lucky Draw which was sponsored by BBAXN and Harry’s Bar. 9 lucky winners bagged away with Nike basketball prizes while the biggest winner won a Goodie Bag from Harry’s Bar.

BBAXN would like to thank all teams for their participation in last season’s tournament and also all attendees of Awards Night. We hope this new season and the following ones would be more exciting, with old teams making a comeback and new teams registering to participate in our leagues.
