BBAXN and BAS Work Towards Fostering Positive Relationship ON and OFF the Courts
June 27th, 2006

On 30th March 2006, BBAXN and BAS invited team managers of all Men and Women teams to meet the prestigious officials of the basketball league for an Open Dialogue Workshop to address the various pressing issues happening on the courts.

BBAXN Directors Lee Taylor and Mat Boylan, together with Sports Operation and Development Executive Shima Abdullah started the show with an opening speech to inform the attendees the objective of the workshop.

Team Managers and Representatives from BBAXN teams like Mars Basketball Club, Wombats Basketball Club, Lions Basketball Club, Bucks Basketball Club and Comets Basketball Club graced the event. Even coaches for BBAXN Junior Basketball Clubs attend the seminar in hopes to discuss further on how to improvise the Junior Leagues.

Mr. Johnny Mah, began the dialogue session by addressing different issues such as Team Uniform, Time Keeping and Foul Calls. The officials even put up a presentation to explain the FIBA regulations on the Advantage and Disadvantage rule on PowerPoint slide, accompanied by role-playing by the officials themselves.

At the end of the night, team managers have a better understanding of the importance of the officials to BBAXN Leagues. BAS Referees are there to ensure the games are being played professionally.

The night ended when the boxes of pizza was delivered to the conference room of National Basketball Centre. Everyone enjoyed their share of pizza and beverages while mingling for an informal question and answer.

BBAXN is proud to see a vast improvement on the camaraderie of both officials and team managers. BBAXN would like to thank all attendees of the BBAXN-BAS Workshop and looks forward to have a second session post-season.
